IJOFIN Group Gives Back to Community, Offers Scholarships Awards to Primary Six Pupils Going to Secondary School

Poised by their determination to develop their town, particularly in the areas of Education and Youth development, Ijofin Patriotic Alliance for Progress (IPAP), a developmental and age based group is giving educational, business and financial assistance to members of its community.

President of the age based group, Comrade Odunmbaku Rasheed who made this known to our correspondence during an interview granted him recently at the just concluded Ojude Oba day celebration in Ijofin, said the organisation has been doing a lot to assist in the development of the town through educational support and in terms of raising funds for the youth.

According to Com. Odunmbaku Rasheed, IPAP is an association that is based mainly on the development of town and mostly the development of the youths and children of Ijofin community and it’s environ.

He said “our interest is to develop them educationally and financially in terms of small capital investments. We do this annually, we give scholarship to pupils from primary to secondary school. On how selection of awardees, he responded that we do organize a special Examination for the Primary six pupils in Primary Schools and we select the best among them, based on their merit performance in the special Examination. So we are not being biased in our selection.

On how they generate funds to achieve all these things, the Association President said “Glory be to almighty God, we have been financing this programme by ourselves because we believe that giving back to the community is something of great interest. We don’t look at the cost implication; we simply contribute among ourselves to finance our various programmes and projects”.

Com. Odunmbaku  also made it clear that for nineteen years ago (precisely since year 2000) that the Association has been in existence, they have ensure that they do not get themselves involved in politics, just as they have sustained the annual Scholarship Award programme since more over 10 years ago.

On follow ups on those offered scholarships, the group President pointed out that they always liaise with the parents, in case they may need more assistance after they must have exhausted their scholarship period.

“We  do involved the parents; we do tell the parents that after the children  might have finished the scholarship given to them, that they can still contact us in case they need our assistance in moving forward in their educational pursuit. They do consult us and we assist them the little way we can. We have been monitoring their educational development since we started.

Advising the youth, he said they need to be focused in whatever they are doing since they are the leaders of tomorrow.

“I believe we can do it, our leaders started somewhere too. We can even do better than them if we are focused and committed. I will advise the youth to be focused in whatever field they find themselves. Let’s be sincere in what we are doing”, Com. Odunmbaku advised.

The Association President equally advised other clubs and associations of the town to emulate what they are doing, so that they too can contribute their quota to development and progress of the community to moves it to the next level.

According to the President, if other clubs and associations can emulate IPAP, it will go a long way in assisting most of the youth and younger ones to the level they want to be both in terms of education and businesses wise.
